A class instance with a substitute instructor could reset to the original instructor due to the following reason:
When you add a substitute instructor for a class instance, then made some changes to the class schedule this instance falls under and save it
The substitute instructor will be reset to the original instructor if you have selected the option Reset substitute instructor while saving the changes to the class schedule
